Linking Alarm.com equipment and SecurityTrax Customer Equipment

Alarm.com equipment can be linked to SecurityTrax Customer Equipment when the SecurityTrax customer record is connected to the Alarm.com customer record. 

Linking equipment will group the equipment data into one view on the SecurityTrax equipment record. This document will walk you through how to link the equipment items.

Linking SecurityTrax customer equipment to Alarm.com equipment

SecurityTrax equipment can be added to a customer record by following the steps on How to Manage Customer Equipment.

Follow these steps to link the Securitytrax customer equipment items to the customer's equipment in Alarm.com.

  1. While in the customer record, navigate to the equipment tab.
  2. Select the Securitytrax equipment item(s) to link by selecting the checkbox on the left side of the row. 
  3. Notice that a Link and Edit button appear at the top of the page. For more information on how to Bulk Edit, go to How to Manage Customer Information
  4. Select Link.
  5. The item(s) you selected to link are now at the top of the window in a carousel. You can navigate to the left or right of this carousel at any time. 
  6. Select the Alarm.com unlinked equipment item you want to link the item to. 
  7. Click Save & Link.
    • Note: You will automatically be taken to the next item on the carousel to link.
  8. Continue with step 7 for all items you wish to link.
  9. Close the linking window when you are done.
    • Note: When you Link & Save the last item on the carousel the linking window automatically closes.

 

Linking Alarm.com equipment to SecurityTrax customer equipment

Often equipment is added to the Alarm.com account firs. In this case, you can link those items to SecurityTrax customer equipment and/or add customer equipment and link at the same time. Here's how:

  1. While in the customer record, navigate to the equipment tab.
  2. Select the Alarm.com equipment item(s) to link by selecting the checkbox on the left side of the row. 
  3. Select Link.
  4. The item(s) you selected to link are now at the top of the window in a carousel. You can navigate to the left or right of this carousel at any time. 
  5. Choose from Match to existing SecurityTrax customer equipment or Match and Create SecurityTrax customer equipment

Using Match to existing SecurityTrax customer equipment

A list of applicable SecurityTrax customer equipment will be listed. To link:

  1. Select the SecurityTrax customer equipment item you want to link the item to.
  2. Click Save & Link.
    • Note: You will automatically be taken to the next item on the carousel to link.
  3. Continue with the previous step for all items you wish to link.
  4. Close the linking window when you are done.
    • Note: When you Link & Save the last item on the carousel the linking window automatically closes.

Using Match and Create SecurityTrax customer equipment

If the item you wish to link to is not listed on the SecurityTrax Equipment section, you can add the equipment to the customer and link at the same time. Do this by:

  1. Select the SecurityTrax Equipment Name item.
  2. Select the Equipment Sold by rep.
  3. Mark the item's Installed Status.
  4. Click Save & Link.
    • Note: You will automatically be taken to the next item on the carousel to link.
  5. Continue with the previous steps for all items you wish to link.
  6. Close the linking window when you are done.
    • Note: When you Link & Save the last item on the carousel the linking window automatically closes.

 

Unlinking equipment

There are 2 ways to unlink equipment from Alarm.com:

Single Item Unlink

  1. Click on the item row and select Unlink.
  2. Confirm you want to unlink by clicking on Unlink again.

Bulk Unlink

  1. Select multiple items to be unlinked by clicking on the checkbox of each row. 
  2. In the next window select Unlink.
  3. Confirm you want to unlink by clicking on Unlink again.
