Message Templates

Create Message Templates to be used when sending messages to Customers and Leads via Email or SMS.

Terms

Model

The model, or object is the thing you want to pull the data from. 

Placeholder

Placeholders define the data you want to pull from the model.

Message Template

A Template is a formatted message that may contain models and placeholders that can then be used to send messages without having to create a new message every time.

At-Risk

At-Risk refers to customers that are at risk of attrition. 

SMS

SMS stands for Short Message Service which is a text messaging service component.

 

Create Message Templates

  1. Click on the Company Menu Screen Shot 2019-12-16 at 10.00.13 PM.png  icon and select Company Settings in the Admin section. 
  2. Select Message Templates under Content Management.
  3. The list of Message Templates will be shown here in Customer and Lead categories.
  4. Click the ADD button to create a new template.
  5. Type in the Template Name.
  6. Select Email or SMS*.

Email Template:

  • Email Subject: This will be the Email Subject that is sent on the email.
  • From Name: This is the name that will show in the email and will be pre-filled with the data entered in Global Settings. You can change this at any time. 
  • From Email: The email that is sent will show this as the from email and will be pre-filled with the data entered in Global Settings. You can change this at any time
  • HTML Body: This is where you will set up your message. Messages can use data that can be merged called Placeholders. See below for description and a list of available placeholders.

SMS Template:

  • Message: This is where you will set up your SMS message. Messages can use data that can be merged called Placeholders. See below for description and a list of available placeholders.

 

Merging Data

When creating the template, you can define the data to be merged into the template.  There is a set list of available data points described below that show the model and the method used to get the desired data.  The format of these placeholders is as follows: %%[model][supported_method]%%.  

Example:

Let's say I want to have my message start with `Dear First name Last name'. I would use the customer model and the "getFlname" placeholder. Like this:

Dear %%[customer][getFlname]%%,

This will pull the First and Last name from the Customer record to show something like:

Dear Jane Cooper,

 

IMPORTANT: Placeholders are case-sensitive and need to be exactly as listed below. We highly recommend you copy the placeholders from below and paste to your template. Also, test the message by sending out a test message.
